I think it is very important that we not only love the books, but the creators of them so here are 3 female authors that I think are inspiring:
- Alice Munroe- Munroe is a Canadian author born in 1931 is still one of the best contemporary short-story writers. What makes Munroe stand out from the rest are her truthful and striking relationships which have won her the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature and 2009 Man Booker International Prize.
- Toni Morrison- Morrison does not shy away from the truth and her books address the big issues of race in America through the characters she brings to life in her books. She has written many novels, plays, children and non-fiction books gaining her the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1988 and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1993.
- Barbara Kingsolver- Kingsolver began to write in their 30’s after developing other interests in her life such as getting her bachelor’s degree in biology. This interest is often shown throughout her writing. Kingsolver often focuses on the themes of feminism and environmentalism and won Bellwether Prize for emerging writers who wrote literature for social change.
